So what exactly is SIDS? Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is one of the leading causes of
death among infants one month through one year of age in the United States. The National
Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) defines SIDS as the sudden death of
an infant under one year of age which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation,
including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene and review of
the clinical history. SIDS is a diagnosis of exclusion, assigned only once all known and
possible causes of death have been ruled out.
We are Randy and Jaime Connell and our little girl Jordan died of SIDS on August 21, 2009. We
would like to have her spirit live on and be able to raise awareness and funds to contribute
to research that is being done to help find the cause so that they can find a cure. Our
lives changed forever on that day and if we can help save other babies and parents from this
tragedy, then we feel like she had a purpose on earth.
